New Gudauri is off the main road, but it is the liveliest and noisiest part of the resort. Missing a party here is almost impossible — this is where all the well-known restaurants and bars are. In the evenings tourists gather for après-ski: to relax after a day on the slopes, drink Georgian craft beer or wine, chat, and sometimes even dance on tables in the best traditions of popular ski resorts. If the sound of thumping bass in the rooms bothers you (and it might), consider other areas. New Gudauri is home to the resort's central lift, making it convenient to reach all the main runs. Parking can be difficult if you travel by car; it's best to check with your hotel in advance where to leave the vehicle. A big plus is several small supermarkets (including one Spar) where you can buy groceries if you plan to cook in an apartment. Upper Gudauri has no markets at all, and Lower Gudauri only has one. There is a wide choice of apartments and hotels close to the lifts or with direct access to the slopes. In season, apartments for two cost from 5,000 rubles per day — book early. Many have their own kitchen and a balcony with mountain views; there are also options with a sauna and an indoor pool.
A great option — New Gudauri Alpen Apartments. They are located in the centre of New Gudauri, just a few minutes' walk from the lift, restaurants and cafés. The apartments sleep up to four people and have a small kitchen for those planning to cook. In high season you can only book for a minimum of five nights.
If you want to spend the night in a tent, there is an equipped campsite Niade Shatili right in the centre of the village. At the campsite, for just 20 lari you get a comfortable pitch for a tent, hot showers and Wi‑Fi.
