Steeped in history since 1912, the legendary Astoria Hotel stands directly opposite Saint Isaac's Cathedral in Saint Petersburg. It combines Imperial grandeur with modern luxury, offering world-class dining at the Astoria Restaurant and the iconic Rotunda Lounge. While standard rooms can feel small, the impeccable service, exquisite breakfasts, and historic atmosphere make it a peerless choice for a romantic or cultural getaway.

An iconic Rocco Forte hotel tucked between Piazza del Popolo and the Spanish Steps, de Russie is famed for its secluded walled garden, polished personalised service and elegant rooms. Guests repeatedly single out staff members and the Le Jardin courtyard for memorable breakfasts and aperitivi; minor criticisms focus on occasional slow bar service and dated corridor carpets.
