Perched on a 600-meter hill northeast of Bozyazı, Yelbiz Castle (nicknamed 'Spider Castle') offers adventurous travelers a glimpse into Byzantine history. The ruins include a monastery complex with two large halls, remnants of a basilica, and geometric mosaics that hint at its former grandeur. Two imposing towers (6-7 meters tall) and cisterns speak to its strategic past.
Reaching the castle requires a short hike through dense forest after driving to Tekedüzü village. Though partially collapsed, the round-arched windows and courtyard still evoke medieval atmosphere. Visit early morning for cooler temperatures and bring water – the final 350 meters have no road access. Nearby Bozyazı provides basic amenities before exploring this off-the-beaten-path site.
