Kaputaş Beach is a renowned natural beach on Turkey's Mediterranean coast, famous for its unique setting where a narrow canyon opens directly into the sea. Its striking turquoise waters, golden sands, and dramatic cliffs have made it an iconic symbol of the region and a popular spot for photographers and nature lovers alike.

Visitors consistently praise the beach's breathtaking beauty, often describing the water as crystal clear and having an unparalleled turquoise hue, unlike anything seen elsewhere. Many highlight the stunning views from the road above and the refreshing coolness of the sea, especially welcome during hot summer months. The beach is generally clean, and facilities like showers, changing rooms, and toilets are available, often managed by the municipality. However, several reviewers warn about the beach getting extremely crowded, particularly in the afternoon and on weekends, which can detract from the experience. The sea can also be quite wavy and deep close to the shore, making it less ideal for young children or weak swimmers, and some areas have large stones at the water's edge, so aqua shoes are recommended.

To make the most of your visit, arrive early in the morning, ideally before 9:00 AM, to secure a spot, avoid the worst of the crowds, and find parking. Many suggest spending 2-3 hours to enjoy the water and scenery. Bring your own snacks and drinks if you want to save money, as prices at the beach cafe can be higher due to its tourist attraction status. While sunbeds and umbrellas are available for rent, some visitors found them uncomfortable or noted that space can be limited. Be aware that the beach is accessed via approximately 100-200 concrete steps; while manageable for most, it can be challenging for the elderly, those with mobility issues, or families with strollers. There are no cushions on the sun chairs, so consider bringing a towel for extra comfort.

Kaputaş Beach is located directly on the D400 coastal road between Kaş (about 20 km) and Kalkan (about 7 km). Public transport is a convenient option: local dolmuş (minibuses) from both Kaş and Kalkan regularly stop at the beach. The journey from Kaş takes about 30 minutes and costs around 6 TL, while from Kalkan it's about 10 minutes. If driving, parking can be a significant challenge, especially during peak times, with cars often lining the road for a kilometer or more. There are limited parking spaces just off the approach road, but these fill up quickly. Taxis from Kaş or Kalkan are also an option, with a trip from Kaş costing around 50 TL.

Common complaints include overcrowding, aggressive waves, and the sudden depth of the water. To mitigate these, visit during the off-season or very early in the morning. If the waves are too strong, consider enjoying the view from above or opting for a calmer beach. Be cautious of vendors offering 'blue cave tours' as some visitors found them overpriced and not worth it. Always ask for prices before purchasing anything, especially ice cream, to avoid being overcharged.
